Galo De Jesus Barreto
Deacon ** D & E

– Hello everyone…!  God bless you…   I am Deacon Galo, born in Barranquilla, Colombia. I worked as a teacher for 27 years, 17 in my country and 12 in the United States. I got a bachelor’s degree in Philology and Languages from Universidad Libre in Colombia, and I am a specialist in Pedagogical Studies. During my experience as a teacher in Colombia, I had the opportunity to work with the Franciscan, Augustinian, and Jesuit communities. Three great Saints who lived a very close experience with the Lord. While working with the Jesuit Community, I had the opportunity to live a spiritual experience that changed my life: The Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. For five years, I was living that beautiful spiritual experience, and it was precisely by living this experience that my vocation to serve the Lord was deeply strengthened. I came to the United States for the first time in 1999, and I was here for a few months, then I returned to my country. In 2005, I came back for the second time, and I worked as a High School teacher. Three years later, I received a Certificate of Achievement as a Cultural Ambassador from the Visiting International Faculty Program. I also completed studies in theology, obtaining a Certificate of Commissioning to Teach Jesus’ message, build community, lead a life of prayer, and engage in Christian Service as a way of witnessing the Gospel through the Diocese of Charlotte, NC. In 2016, I received a Certificate of Completion in Theology Studies through Saint Leo University. I was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in 2017, In 2023 completed the Clergy Only Cohort training for D & E at the Pope Leo XIII Institute. I have been active in parish ministries for more than 30 years, and as a servant of the Lord, I pray every day that the Lord continues to guide my steps so that I can be an instrument of his love and mercy. I feel very blessed to be part of this ministry.

**Galo has no Deacon status within the Diocese of Charleston at the present time.**

May the Peace of the Lord be with you… Here are some of my favorite quotes:

“We have been called to heal wounds, to unite what has fallen apart, and to bring home those who have lost their way.” St. Francis of Assisi

“Do not be afraid to throw yourself on the Lord! He will not draw back and let you fall! Put your worries aside and throw yourself on him; He will welcome you and heal you”. ― St. Augustine

"For if Satan’s temptations merely cause you to increase your efforts to grow in holiness, he’ll have an incentive to leave you alone.” ― St. Ignatius of Loyola

Carlos Marin
Deacon - D & E

Hello, my name is Deacon Carlos, my ordination was on February 11, 2019, and my assignment is to minister to the parish of Saint Anthony Catholic Church, Walterboro, SC.

My humble beginnings are from Catholic parents, born in Veracruz, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States of America in 1988. I have been living in South Carolina since 1990. I had two sons before meeting this wonderful woman I married in 1996, and we have four beautiful girls.

In 2010 I started to help the English-speaking priest translate his homilies for our Hispanic community. This opportunity planted the seed for my permanent commitment to God.

While preparing for my ordination as a  Deacon, I also became the Spanish Director of Religious Education. Yet, God has one more thing for me to do for our diocese. I would receive calls to help with translation for the Deliverance and Exorcism Ministry while my sister-in-law Isabella offered intercessory prayers. Alongside this diocesan ministry, I met Madie, who envisioned the Triage Ministry. She saw the need to help those before and after the deliverance and exorcism session. As we witnessed people suffer from various spiritual afflictions, it became evident that they needed special attention. Because every situation is different, there are many areas of healing we address. Most of all, we witness the anointing of the Holy Spirit in the Triage Ministry.

Seeing God in our midst is awe-inspiring as His glory comes forth in very intimate ways.

In 2023 I completed the Clergy Only Cohort training for D & E at the Pope Leo XIII Institute.

We offer workshops and prayer sessions to those seeking an encounter with our Lord Jesus.
